Teruko Wilde - Expansive southwestern skies, approaching storms and moody sunsets describe the colorful oil paintings by Teruko Wilde. Approximately 15 years ago, she moved to New Mexico, like many, drawn to its dramatic landscape. Almost immediately, she transited from watercolor and pastels to oil as it provided the intensity and range of color she was seeking. Strong forms and compelling color comprise her signature work.
Currently, she has expanded her form of expression into abstracted landscapes. The artist must be true to herself in the act of creativity, states Wilde whose work is the culmination of her Japanese heritage and American experiences. Overlays of color create texture and intriguing shapes as past and present merge. Recreating both emotional and physical elements from her surroundings, the viewer is always moved by her work.
Ms. Wilde studied at the
University of Cincinnati and Columbus College
of Art and Design in Ohio. She is listed
in Whos Who in America, the International
Directory of Distinguished Leadership, the
Dictionary of International Biography, Two
Thousand Notable American Women and in Woman
of the Year.
