Harmon - In
1996, Cliff Harmon celebrated 50 years of painting in Taos and was
honored with three retrospective shows. He is known as one of the
early Taos Modernists, having studied with Emil Bisttram and Louis
Ribak. Focusing on color relationships and simplicity of form, Harmon
has developed an abstract series of landscapes titled "Earth
Forms." He incorporates the concept of color change in which
a colors value changes when placed against other colors of deeper
shade or lighter tint. "My paintings are not a metaphor for human
life but have a strong formal life of their own. I believe that each
individual viewer brings to a work of art a unique observation, based
on personal experience," says Harmon.
