Kaplinski - Following his studies
at the American Academy of Art and the Chicago Art Institute,
he began working in commercial art as a graphic designer. The
lure of the Southwest drew him to Taos in 1966 where he began
his career as a fine artist. Quickly, he gained national recognition
through his contemporary depictions of the landscape. He has
been exhibited in over 75 national shows including the National
Watercolor Society, National Academy of Design and the Denver
Art Museum and Museum of Natural History.
"A great deal of time is spent
working on location in order to gain insight into my landscape
subjects. In the studio, I take the most appealing designs and reinforce them
with my own personal viewpoint. The overwhelming design of nature
is my inspiration," says Kaplinski. Intensive studies include
travels to New Zealand, Turkey, Fiji Islands, Chili, Greece, Egypt,
Tahiti, Israel and Morocco among others. His works have been published
in American Artist Magazine, Who's Who in American Art, Art West
Magazine and Colorado Homes and Lifestyle Magazine
